IS: THE ARTS: Picturing the World through Film

This course aims to raise your awareness and gain a different perspective on global and social issues faced in other parts of the world presented through film. We will view a small sample of peoples’ stories in other countries through the lens of the video camera and discuss some of the recent challenges they face and how they work to overcome them. You will experience how film acts as a means of communication for basic human emotions that can transcend cultural and social boundaries.
I learned the importance of touching world problems and power of films in this class. Furthermore, I learned the importance of trying to tell my opinions. Telling my views in English is very difficult, but I was so happy when group members understood my opinions.
I enjoyed this class very much! I cannot speak English well and talking with people who I don’t know was difficult, but I learned sharing opinions and thinking deeply was very fun. I want to continue to think about the problems around the world and express myself.
