In this course, you will discuss language and communication issues in  everyday life and work. In addition to sharing your own experiences and  opinions, you will learn from the stories of people in Japan and abroad  while exploring key ideas from the fields of sociolinguistics and  intercultural communication. You will explore topics connected to self,  relationships, society and multimodality. Through case studies and class  discussions, you will gain a deeper awareness of ways to live and work  in multiple languages, find your own voice, overcome language problems,  and make a difference in your own life and in the lives of people around  you. At the end of the course, you will identify a language-related issue that you are interested in and make a proposal for action to address the issue.
